New Orleans Fishing Report day 1 of a 2 day trip for the Mike Cayson group. Jeff, Archie and Phil were my crew today. We fished all day managing to box 5 reds and a kicker trout. We caught a ton of rats and fought a stiff East wind. The weather patterns have been late this year with odd cold fronts keeping the bite slow. Strong winds in excess of 20+MPH gusting into the 30MPH range have impacted the areas we are able to fish. Unusually high river water has forced the opening of river diversions north of the Delacroix marsh forcing dirty, fresh, river water into the area and pushing the fish further south. As soon as the weather stabilizes and the river level drops the fishing in Delacroix will be great! May is shaping up to be the month everything gets corrected and the fishing really turns on! Call now limited days available in May and June, the books are filling rapidly.Fun crew that were a pleasure to fish with. Thanks to Captain Chad for the trip.
